Askam installed two Hydro schemes on the Dowally and Broom Burns for the Atholl Estates.

The Dowally scheme has a generating capacity of 436w and the Broom Burn powers a 464kw turbine.

The works at Dowally consisted of the construction of a Hydro Power Scheme incorporating modifications to existing loch and alterations to existing dam. Works also involved in- river works, 2000m penstock, powerhouse, grid connection and tail race/outfall structures.

Significant temporary works were required including access roads, crane pads, in-river diversions and dewatering.

The works at Loch Broom reflected those of Dowally and were virtually the same.
