Turning The Place Over

Askam Construction has now completed one of its most ambitious engineering contracts to date. Based in Liverpool, 'Turning The Place Over' was a project based within Liverpools City of Culture celebrations. Designed by the artist Richard Wilson, the project itself involves cutting an 8m x 6m sized oval out from the front of the old Yates Wine Lodge building and placing it onto a steel rotating arm within the building. This will have the effect of the building turning itself inside out, as shown in the pictures below:

The project has gained a huge amount of media interest, not only in the UK but globally with coverage in countries such as Holland, Sweden, America and Japan. Locally it was featured on both the BBC national news and Granada Television, within local newspapers including the Liverpool Echo and Mercury and has also gained a lot of interest across the Internet. Changes To J.Parkinsons

As of June 1st 2007, all J.Parkinson & Sons (Contracting) Ltd activities have been transferred to Askam Construction Ltd's Building Division. All J.Parkinson Staff have remained onboard and are happy to work as part of Askam Construction Ltd.

Askam Construction Ltd 2006 Golf Day

The annual golf day, now in its 5th year, was held again at the Kirkby Lonsdale Golf Club under perfect blue skys. 6 teams of four players set off at 10 minute intervals from lunch time with a well deserved break after the 9th hole for drinks. As always a mixed bag of players were present, some playing off scratch, others playing for the only time of the year, but the common rivalry and good humour was enjoyed by all.

Askam Construction Ltd helps the Duck Race

Askam Construction was heavily involved with supporting this charity event, held at the Lancaster YMCA to raise awareness of homeless children aged 14-18 throughout the district, with proceeds raised to refurbish an existing accomodation. Thousands of plastic ducks were sold and placed into the River Lune with the first duck to reach the finish line the winner, with the £35,000 that was required raised for the charity.

Askam Construction Ltd supports Brunshaw School Football Team

Not only have Askam Construction Ltd carried out a substantial construction contract at the Brunshaw Primary School in Burnley, we are also the proud supporters of their school football team.

New Company Web Site

Previous visitors to our web site will no doubt notice the major design changes that it has gone through. These changes give our web site a more professional look and making it much easier to use and navigate. Much of the design work was carried out by LA Serve, based in Lancaster.
